As well as removing the mod, NexusMods says it’s banned both “the sock puppet account and the user’s main account.” The mod replaced the pride flags found around New York City with the United States flag, which is frequently seen in the original game.
NexusMods stated that because there were steps to not only be hateful, but circumvent real punishment by making the sockpuppet account, it escalated to a full account ban against the original user. NexusMods made a zero-tolerance statement against the creation of mods with the intent of erasing diversity and inclusion artwork in any game. The site also stated that any other users that found its removal of the mod and the account ban as an overreach could also no longer use its service and pointed towards its "delete account" link.
The mod appeared online for less than 24 hours, however. Nexus Mods confirmed to We Got This Covered that the 'Non-Newtonian New York' mod has been removed, and that its creator's account (as well as an alt account) have been banned. A spokesperson for the site said that the mod creator "is no longer welcome on Nexus".
